MG304 Agriculture Value Chain Management

DESCRIPTION

This unit aims to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding with aspects related to the basis of food production attributes with special emphasis on the management of input, agricultural production, processing, inventory management, location, distribution networks, channel relationships, governance and sustainability in the value and supply chain. It will equip students to develop an understanding of the value chain in the agribusiness industry beyond the farm to the final consumer. This will improve their capacity to make strategic decisions in managing organisations or companies involved in agricultural production chain development. Specifically, the unit will examine how the different participants of a value chain coordinate their activities to achieve efficiencies and avoid duplication and appropriate governance structures and configurations within the value chain to ensure optimal performance and competitiveness.
