Robotic Eagle-Micro Drone

Australian Agribusiness Institute Research Centre leaders, Professor Harvinder Singh and Professor Bernard Malik , have been part of an exciting inter-institutional project to create the Robotic Eagle-Micro Drone. In early 2025, the drone was granted an Indian Design Patent by the Government of India. Project leader, A/Prof Jolly Masih of BML Munjal University, explains :

This achievement is a testament to the power of teamwork and collaboration. Inspired by the flight dynamics of an eagle, this innovative micro drone is designed for precision agriculture and disaster management, ensuring seamless navigation across large farmlands, hilly terrains, and dense forests. With high-resolution macro and micro imaging, geospatial grading, and AI-powered nutrient analysis, it enhances crop health monitoring, early disease detection, and yield optimization. Additionally, it plays a vital role in disaster response, offering real-time surveillance for wildfires, floods, and landslides.

The project included researchers from School of Management – BML Munjal University, BML Munjal University, Leaders Institute, Torrens University Australia, National Institute of Agricultural Marketing, Jaipur, as well as other organisations.
